Clovis, NM—Clovis High School jazz bands hit a high note last week at the Greater Southwest Music Festival in Amarillo, marking a new milestone for the district’s music program.
For the first time ever, all three Clovis High School jazz ensembles - Jazz 1, Jazz 2, and Jazz 3 - traveled to compete in the festival. Each group delivered standout performances:
Jazz 3 earned Outstanding Ratings
Jazz 2 received a First Division Rating
Jazz 1 not only earned Outstanding Ratings, but also made history by being named Best in Class—the top honor of the entire festival, and a first for Clovis.
These achievements are especially noteworthy considering Clovis jazz band students rehearse only once a week, in contrast to many schools at the festival that offer daily jazz classes.
Congratulations to all three jazz bands and their directors, Mr. Crane and Mr. Kemp, on their performances and well-earned recognition!
