CLOVIS, N.M. — Emily Gipson, a senior at Clovis High School, has been named the 2027 Distinguished Young Woman of New Mexico. She earned the title at the state finals held Sept. 19, 2026, at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.
Emily will represent New Mexico at the national Distinguished Young Women competition in June 2027 in Mobile, Alabama, alongside representatives from the other 49 states. She also received $2,500 in college scholarships through the state program.
Distinguished Young Women is a national scholarship program that encourages high school students to develop their potential and celebrates their accomplishments. Participants build skills in public speaking, interviewing and performance while demonstrating academic achievement and physical fitness. The program also emphasizes education, self-confidence and meaningful relationships.
The New Mexico State Finals brought together students from across the state for an experience centered on personal growth, leadership and connection.
