At approximately 1:30 PM, on Friday, August 15, 2025 a Chromebook in a classroom at Clovis High School overheated. The Chromebook was extinguished without injury to any students or staff.

The school was evacuated as a precaution, and the incident was handled promptly by school staff following district safety protocols. The Clovis Fire Department responded and students were able to return to class.

Update 10:50 AM - Clovis High School Freshman Academy has been placed in Secure & Teach mode to allow for investigation into comments made by a student at the Clovis High School campus.

Clovis High School was briefly placed in Secure & Teach at approximately 10:40 am on August 14, 2025, while school officials work with law enforcement to investigate comments reported by students.

To comply with a new state law, Clovis Municipal Schools has updated its rules for phones, tablets, smartwatches, smart glasses, and headphones/earbuds:

  • K-8: Off and out of sight during the school day

CHS faculty had some fun today. We were sorted into our RCA houses, and then had some healthy and fun competitions. We definitely laughed. Hoping to bring that same fun and laughter to our students starting Monday.

Last week one of our very own ECHS students , Vincent Smith, earned the opportunity to fish the National Championship for the second year in a row.
Vincent represented NM Bass Nation in Georgia. He was one of only two National qualifiers from New Mexico. Great job, Vincent.
