Tara Gillins-Hubbard

Tara Gillins-Hubbard, has been selected for and accepted the position of James Bickley Elementary School Principal

A New Jersey educator with more than a decade of outstanding work in elementary education focused on engaging and empowering marginalized students, Gillins-Hubbard most recently worked as a teacher for the Trenton Board of Education.

 

Recognized as the New Jersey Educator of the Year for 2022-2023, Gillins-Hubbard stands out as a leader among peers and has focused her efforts both in and out of the classroom, cultivating community and cultural enrichment through programs that engage students and the local community.

 

While working as a teacher for the Trenton Board of Education, Gillins-Hubbard also served as an Education Component Supervisor for the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) from 2018 to 2021, supporting youth through educational programs.

 

She additionally worked as College Site Director for Cooperman Scholars, supporting and monitoring student success in the program from 2015 to 2016. Prior to teaching, Gillins-Hubbard worked as a Residential Supervisor at Oaks Integrated Care, a home to aid youth in reintegrating with their families following separation.

 

Gillins-Hubbard holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from The College of New Jersey, and a Bachelor of Criminal Justice from Rowan University.

 

The vacancy was created through the retirement of Kristi Hopper. Gillins-Hubbard will begin working in her new role over the summer in preparation for the start of school in August.
