Ever wonder the process of transitioning into Preschool with the Clovis School District? Here is a timeline of the process.
Referral- The school is sent a referral that your child may need Developmental Preschool due to a Developmental Delay or medical condition. The meeting time and date are then set.
Transition Meeting- This meeting is set by the FIT provider 90 days before your child's 3rd birthday with the public schools. At this meeting the team will discuss if there is a need for special education testing.
Vision and Hearing- Your child will have their vision and hearing screened by a school nurse.
Enrollment- An enrollment application will need to be completed by the child's family. Shot records, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate and proof of address are required.
Testing- An evaluator or team of evaluators will reach out and set a time for you to bring your child to Clovis Schools for the testing requested in the transition meeting.
Eligibility Determination Meeting- The school's team, the child's family, and the FIT team will meet to review testing and determine if the child has an eligibility under IDEA for special Education.
IEP- If an eligibility is determined, the team can draft an individualized education plan to help support the student within the school setting. If the student is not eligible, a list of resources can be provided including the peer program with the public schools.
