FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CLOVIS, N.M. - Clovis Municipal Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Summers as the district’s new Executive Director of Data and Accountability. Summers brings more than two decades of educational leadership experience to the role, along with a strong commitment to transparency, ethical practice, and student-centered decision-making.
Summers has served as superintendent in both Aztec and Bloomfield school districts, where he focused on increasing academic achievement, fostering community partnerships, and improving instructional systems. His previous roles also include Director of Curriculum and Instruction, building principal, and classroom teacher, with service across New Mexico, Texas, and California.
In addition to his district leadership experience, Summers has worked as an educational consultant, partnering with school systems in New Mexico to support leadership development, strategic planning, and data-informed instructional practices.
Summers holds a Master of Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from New Mexico State University. He is also currently engaged in professional learning networks across the state, including in his role as President-Elect of the New Mexico School Superintendents Association.
In his new position, Summers will lead efforts to strengthen the district’s use of data to improve instruction, support accountability measures, and enhance transparency with families and stakeholders. He will work closely with district leadership, school staff, and community partners to promote data-driven decision-making and equitable access to high-quality education.
“I am excited about the opportunity to help lead the district into the future, continuing to build on its strengths and addressing the challenges of the changing educational landscape,” said Summers. “I am excited by the opportunity to contribute to Clovis’ vision for growth and student success.”
Summers is also a passionate advocate for student engagement and school culture. He is a proud member of the RCA-inspired House system, having worked with Ron Clark and other national education leaders to promote strategies that build belonging, school pride, and inclusive learning environments.
Clovis Municipal Schools welcomes Mr. Summers as he begins this new chapter of service to the students, families, and staff of the district.
