CLOVIS, N.M. — The Early College High School (ECHS) program at Clovis Community College was recognized on September 15, 2025, with the prestigious “Exemplary” designation from the New Mexico Public Education Department — one of only four programs in the state to earn this honor.

The school community celebrated the achievement in style with a special ceremony featuring remarks from former ECHS student Zayda Hernandez, Clovis Community College Executive Vice President Dr. Robin Kuykendall, ECHS Dean of Students Melissa Winn, and State Representative Martin R. Zamora.

Since its launch in 2019, ECHS has provided students with an opportunity to pursue college coursework while in high school. The program currently enrolls 270 students and has enabled them to earn more than 20,000 college credits to date. Impressively, between 81 and 84 percent of ECHS students graduate with an associate degree or industry-recognized credential. Since 2021, ECHS students have earned a total of 220 associate degrees.

In addition to their academic success, ECHS students participate in traditional high school experiences — including athletics, fine arts, and student activities — graduating with both a high school diploma and a credential from Clovis Community College.

Congratulations to ECHS Dean Melissa Winn, Clovis Community College, and the students and educators whose commitment continues to make a lasting impact.
